According to Chris Colangelo, they sheared off the pin on the bottom of the distributor cog which caused the timing to be off and when they stopped the car couldn't be restarted.
They were in the middle of nowhere in South Austarlia and it was pitch black.
A Holden HZ wagon pulled up to assist and towed them to Port Augusta where a local garage did a makeshift job the next morning and put a temporary pin in for them. They then made their way home from there.
